How to Select the Right VS Model

With 214 configurations available, selecting the correct model requires matching three core parameters to your system requirements:

01 Required Flow Rate (Q): Determine the maximum and minimum flow your system demands. The VS series covers 1 to 270 m³/h. Select a pump that operates at or near its Best Efficiency Point (BEP) at your design flow — running continuously below 50% of BEP causes recirculation, cavitation, and premature seal failure.
02 Total Dynamic Head (TDH): Calculate total head including static elevation, friction loss in piping and fittings, and required terminal pressure. The VS series delivers heads up to 350m(It can be connected in series to increase its head.).
03 Fluid Properties & Material: Standard 304 stainless steel suits clean water up to 80°C and mildly corrosive fluids. Specify 316 or 316L or Duplex stainless steel for seawater, high-chloride water, chemical feed, or pharmaceutical applications. For fluids above 100°C, specify high-temperature mechanical seals with a flush plan (Plan 11 or Plan 21) to cool the seal faces.

Q1: What is the difference between the VS series and a standard horizontal end suction pump?

A1: The VS series is a vertical inline multistage pump, meaning it installs directly in horizontal pipelines with suction and discharge on the same centerline, and uses multiple impellers to generate high pressure. A horizontal end suction pump is single-stage, requires a concrete foundation, and is typically limited to heads below 160m. The VS series offers up to 350m head, 50% smaller footprint, and no foundation requirement — but at a higher initial cost for equivalent flow rates.


Q2: Can the VS series handle seawater or corrosive fluids?

A2: Standard VS pumps use 304 stainless steel, which is suitable for clean freshwater and mildly corrosive fluids. For seawater, high-chloride water, chemical feed, or pharmaceutical applications, we recommend the 316 or 316L stainless steel or Duplex stainless steel option with silicon carbide mechanical seals.
